The simple definition of the best football stadiums in the world, to me, doesn’t talk about architectural design or the one with the most capacity. No. For me, it depends on the way that football stadium makes you feel every time your team scores a goal or every moment you spend inside just feeling the atmosphere and every chanting moment.

These are the best football stadiums in the world in terms of feeling and getting goose bumps every time you visit them:

La Bombonera. Boca Juniors.

Home of one of the most emblematic teams in the world, Boca Juniors. It’s located in the capital city of football, Buenos Aires in Argentina. Every time the “xeneize” plays there, it’s incredible to watch the fans unite under one voice to chant for their favorite team. It has seen many Copa Libertadores been won on their turf. Every time the team enters de pitch, millions of toilet papers are thrown and fireworks welcome the teams, on one hand to intimidate the adversary and on the other to inspire their players.

Anfield, Liverpool.

Ian Rush, Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard, John Barnes. All these players played in one of the most historic scenarios in the world of football, Anfield. Being one of the best football stadiums in the world is the home of the 5 time Champions League winners, Liverpool. The fans never stop singing the You’ll Never Walk Alone anthem toward their players and being witness to some great matches, they will never let their team stop from trying. Amazing atmosphere and, easily, the best fans in England.

Estadio de Maracaná, Río de Janeiro.

What once was the biggest stadium in the world and the place for the biggest upset in football history (famous Maracanazo) is now the place where the Brazilian National team and several other teams from the Brazilian league play. It has the record of most fans inside a football stadium, on the World Cup Final in 1950, it hosted 199.854 fans who were in the presence of the final between Brasil and Uruguay.

Celtic Park, Glasgow.

It has been said by the players that it’s impossible for them to communicate inside this particular pitch. The fans keep chanting and screaming during the game so loud, that not even the players can hear their thoughts. Home for the Scottish Champs, it has been a monument for every football fan in Europe to visit this stadium. Definitely, one of the best football stadiums in the world.

San Paolo, Napoli.

Not the prettiest, but if there’s a stadium where you’ll scream more than ever and where you’ll feel closer to the players, it’s definitely, San Paolo in Napoli. Every play, every goal, every strategic move is hailed by the crowd. They’re not just fanatics. They are players, coaches, staff, that may know more about the game than any other fan in the world. It’s a place where you’ll feel the celeste blue more than any place. It’s one of the best football stadiums in the world just because of its atmosphere.

Every stadium I called upon, it was chosen for how they make the team, the adversary, the fans feel. There may be more stadiums with more capacity or with better looks. But, no one of them will make you feel like the ones I just talked about. Do you have any other stadium? Feel free to comment below.
